U S Grain Feeds Cars Not People

A quarter of all grain crops grown in the United States is for the production of biofuel rather than being used to feed people, according to new analysis by the Earth Policy Institute, which suggests that the 'grains for biofuel' initiative launched by George Bush is now affecting world food supplies.
The grain grown to produce fuel in the United States in 2009 was enough to feed 330 million people for one year, using average world consumption levels as a guide.
