Penney Poyzer Wow's Green And Organic!!

Penney Poyzer Wow's Green and Organic!!
Last night was the opening night of Green and Organic, and it was opened by our local celebrity Penney Poyzer!!
Penney , owner of an award winning eco-home, author of ‘The Virgin Green Guide’ and star of the BBC’s ‘No Waste Like Home’ opened the ethical, Fairtrade and organic fashion show for us, and at the very last minute, offered to be MC. A friend later said that I must have an angel on my shoulder - I think last night that the angel was Penney. She was absolutely amazing - funny , witty, knowledgeable, and brilliant at filling those little gaps when the models had to do a speedy change of clothes!! Penney, I can’t thank you enough x
The exhibition attracted record numbers - so many that the events room, where the fashion show was held, was filled to bursting, with standing room only at the back!! Huge thanks to all that attended to give your support to these amazing people.
I would like to thank all of the guys that helped put out extra chairs for the fashion show as the room filled up - the numbers took us by surprise a bit and as fast as the chairs were put out a bottom filled it!! Big thank you to you all x
The aim of Green and Organic is to explode myths, to show that you don’t have to wear sandals and eat lentils to be green, but if you do want to then that is OK too! (Penney told us that she is a sandal wearing lentil eater!!). Green welcomes all of us, in whatever way we can. Its about doing our bit, and every little helps.
The fashion show took us for a ride through time. From Vintage clothing by Kathleen and Lily to an ethical collection from local designer Lorna Tallowin. Through the journey we had Tshirts from i dress myself, Tshirts and sweatshirts from Bantum, bamboo Tshirts from SUSU Organic, soft and delicious organic knitwear from stella James and amazing recycled jewellery by Jane Bowler. The bamboo Tshirts that I put in to the show were really to tell people about bamboo and it’s amazing qualities. As it is so fast growing it is highly sustainable and if we grow bamboo forests it will also protect the environment. They were also there to give the models time to change into Lorna’s fantastic collection!!!
I will be updating this page with more links and photographs, but these are the great people at the exhibition and market (22nd September in the events room).
